Our Vision
We believe well-managed procedural care can have significant long-term benefits for a child’s health.
EPIC’s vision is to optimise the psychological wellbeing of infants, children and young adults undergoing medical and surgical procedures.
It is our objective to reduce anxiety and promote a sense of patient autonomy and control via the effective use of communication and behavioural strategies. This has huge potential to improve patient care and outcomes.
What
We Do
Our key role is to share knowledge and resources with those who need it.
Children & Young Adults
We empower children and young adults by equipping them with useful tools and skills to help when undergoing medical or surgical procedures. Learning these new skills can assist them to manage potentially stressful medical situations.
Parents & Guardians
We help to educate Parents and Caregivers by providing them with a variety of resources and tools to support children and young adults having medical procedures. These resources are available to both prevent and reduce the anxiety which may be associated with medical procedural care.
Healthcare Professionals
We provide resources for Healthcare Professionals to support them to manage children and young adults undergoing medical procedural care. We conduct workshops to upskill Health Professionals by teaching effective communication and behavioural strategies. These principles can be adapted to use in their own work environments.
